Dennis Jenkins

Funeral services are scheduled for  2:00 PM, Friday, February  5, at First Baptist Church Artesia for Dennis Walter Jenkins of Lake Arthur, New Mexico.

Jenkins, 71, died January 29, 2021 in Lubbock, Texas.

Ty Houghtaling will officiate at the services.  Burial will follow the services at Twin Oaks Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 10 am to 12 pm on Thursday.

Dennis was born March 21, 1949 in Corona, New Mexico to William Jenkins and Jessie Nell Cape Jenkins.  on February 15, 1974 he was married to Julie Gleghorn.


Dennis was retired form the unites States Air Force.  He enjoyed carpentry, electrical work and researching and following history.  He was an avid reader.  He loved spending time with his family , especially his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, and sisters Guyra Smedley and Jackie Smith.

Survivors include his wife Julie Jenkins; son Justin Jenkins; father Jack Smith; sisters Sandy Smith and Jan Waldrip; grandchildren Nicolas Jenkins, Ryen Jenkins and Loki Jenkins
