No services or visitation are scheduled for Delbert D. Gideon, who died February 20. He was 92 years old. PMr. Gideon was born December 2, 1907, in Ozark, Missouri, to Velva and Jefferson Ross Gideon. He was the eldest of four children, who all preceded him in death. PHe was a small arms specialist in World War II, during which time he served his country overseas. PHe married Harvey Nell Hibler in Hot Springs, N.M., in April 1946. He was a 54 year resident of Truth or Consequences, N.M. PHe retired from New Mexico Parks Service in 1973, after serving many years as the Elephant Butte Lake boat officer. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. PSurvivors include his wife, Harvey Nell Gideon of the family home; son Delbert Hampton Gideon, wife Glenda; grandson Devon Ross Gideon; and granddaughter Courtney Anne Gideon, all of Artesia.
Mr. Gideon donated his body to the New Mexico School of Medicine for medical research. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in his name, to the VFW or New Mexico State Parks Department.
