Deeshunay Lily-Ann "Munchkin" Barrera at 17,is a beloved daughter,sister, grand-daughter,nice,cousin and friend, was called to her eternal resting place on January 23, 2021. She entered this world on September 23, 2003 in Roswell, NM, born to Adam and Jasmine Barrera. She is survived by her father and mother, sister Amalla Barrera; and brothers Ezekiel and Makio Barrera all of the family home, grandfather Duble Barlow and girlfriend Rocio Brown from Artesia; grand-parents Louie and Lisa Barrera from Artesia; aunt Geraldine and husband Thomas Melendez Artesia; uncles Matthew Barlow Artesia; David Barlow and girlfriend Sydni SalmonArtesia; Louie Jr Barrera from Las Vegas, NV; Hoby and wife Mirna Barrera from Artesia; aunt Susie Barrera from Artesia and Cousins Destiny Barrera, Brandon Orquiz, Jayleen Orquiz, Jack Barrera, Daviana Romo, Judah Barrera, Adan Rojas, Malachi Melendez, Freddy Catano, Paisley Barrera, Kinzleigh Barrera, Agnes Barrera, and Tesslie Barrera all from Artesia, NM, along with a big extended family. Deeshunay went to meet her grandmother Lily Barlow, great-grandmother Josephine Mayberry, great-uncle Henery Romo and uncles Zachary and Anthony Herrera who where waiting for her in heaven. Deeshunay loved to spend time with all her family and friends. She was a sophmore at Artsia High School where she was a member of the cross country team. She anxiously awaited to return to in class learning. She enjoyed doing Tik Tok videos, riding around with her friends, and hanging out with them at the skate park. She was the oldest of 4 siblings and took her role as "Big Sissy" very serious. She bossed her siblings around but loved them with all her heart and soul. At such a young age Deeshunay stepped up and helped with many responsibilities after her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. At the age of 14 she became a member of Faith Baptist church and was saved. She enjoyed her job and was the baby of Piccolinos staff. Pallbearers are uncles Matthew, David, Hoby, and Loui Jr, cousins Brandon Orquiz and Jaden Lopez. Honorary pallbearers are brothers Ezekiel and Makio. A viewing is scheduled for Thursday January 28th at Faith Baptist form 1pm-5 pm. Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 29th at 10:00 am. at Faith Baptist Church, 401 S. 20th Street, Artesia, NM 88210. Interment will follow at Woodbine Cemetery.
