David Smith

Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at Terpening Son Chapel for David Dick Smith of Hope, New Mexico.

Mr. Smith, 79, died Sunday, August 5, 2012 at his home.

Jim Barnett and Clarence Forrester will officiate at the services. Cremation is under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary.

David was born August 1, 1933 in Gainesboro, Tennessee the son of Matha Davis Smith and Beatrice Eudell Chaffin Smith. He came to Hope in 1990 from Carrizozo.

He served his country in the United States Army.

On July 8, 1977 he was married to Della Leo Goodwin in Sundown, Texas.

He worked for Amoco Production before retiring in 1989. After arriving in Hope he became a Rancher. He was also a member of the Cactus Drive Church of Christ in Levelland, Texas.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Doris Swain.

Survivors include his spouse Della Smith of the family home son Paul Smith and wife AnnElise of Artesia stepson Jim Rowe of Thorndale, Texas brother Lyndon Smith of Odessa, Texas and 6 grandchildren.
