David Ray Mayes, 45, died in his home in Cedar Creek, Texas on May 31, 2006. Born September 14, 1960 to William Raymond Lilly and Sherry Ayne Parham in Albuquerque, N.M. Sherry later married William Bill Ridge Mayes who then adopted David as his only son. David was a resident of Artesia for 30 years before moving to Oklahoma City, Okla. He always considered Artesia his hometown, where he grew up hunting, fishing, playing little league and helping his Dad with the sporting goods at Mayes Lumber Company. An Inurnment will take place in the near future at Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia. David is preceded in death by all of his parents, William Lilly, William Bill Mayes and Sherry Mayes Bratcher; and grandparents Virginia and Chester Mayes. He is survived by his son Randy Harrison, daughter Candie Harrison, both of Artesia; sisters Dee Dee and husband Gerald Peddy of Bastrop, Texas, Brenda and husband Tim Bush of Bastrop, and Karin Mayes of Ashland, Tenn; brothers Heath and Jason Lilly of North Carolina; nephew Denver and niece Lora Donaghe of Bastrop, nephew Samuel Andrews of Ashland; and more lifelong friends than anyone could ever imagine.
