Mr. Jackson, 69, passed away at his home on April 8, 2023.
David was born on February 17, 1954, to William and Maxine Jackson on the Naval Base San Diego in San Diego, CA. On March 5, 1977, he married Robin Tolle in Artesia, NM, and they were married for 39 years. She proceeded him in death on September 16, 2016.
David was a member of the Bulldog's sixth state football title in 1969. He is a 1972 graduate of Artesia High School and received a BD degree in pest management from NMSU in 1976. He went on to attend graduate school at NMSU and received a MS degree in economic entomology in 1977.
After college, David worked various jobs in the Ag related industry before finally starting his own business, Southwest Scouting. David drove up and down the Pecos Valley helping many farmers fight the "war on bugs" in their alfalfa and cotton fields. His least favorite crop to check was chile because according to David "the moment it sprouted, it just always wanted to die." In 1995 he took over the family farm in Cottonwood. He would go on to add additional acreage from neighboring farms while still managing to continue to put forth his time and effort checking fields for various farmers in need. Up until his final days, he enjoyed being a steward of the land.
David was preceded in death by wife, Robin (Tolle) Jackson; parents, William and Maxine Jackson; and brother-in-law, Corey Tolle.
He is survived by son, Kale (Elisabeth) Jackson; daughter Mackenzie (Andy) Lopez; sister Jamie (Kelly) Rollins, sister Jeanne Ferguson; and grandchildren, Claire Jackson, Madison Jackson, and Lennon Lopez.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Carlsbad LifeHouse, Inc. designated toward The Bridge Sober Living Home in Artesia, NM.
