Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 1, at Faith Baptist Church for David L. Capps, 1401 W. Hermosa Dr., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Capps, 77, died Saturday, February 26, 2005 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Rev. Michael Elliott will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Mr. Capps was born January 2, 1928 in Mayes Co., Oklahoma; the son of Walter S. Capps and Eula Lee Myers Capps. On Nov. 1, 1948 he was married to Mildred Byers in Okemah, Oklahoma. He came to Artesia in Feb. 1955 from Okemah. He served in the Army during World War II. He was owner and operator of Sandy's Diesel Service. He was a charter member and Past Governor of the Fraternal Order of the Moose, lifetime member Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, active member March of Dimes, enjoyed waterskiing, fishing, and camping with his daughters and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Betty Crowe, Mary Fox, and Alma Keeler, brothers James Capps, Henry Capps, and Walter Sonny Capps, great-grandsons Joshua Lindsey and Sterling McCaw. Survivors include his wife Mildred Capps of the family home; daughters Susie McCaw and husband Norbert of Artesia, Brenda Rogers and husband Kent of Artesia, Debbie Lindsey and husband Mirl of Albuquerque, N.M., and Sandy Villa and husband James of Artesia; sisters Gladys Kositzky of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Dana Sue Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Lois Henning of Wagner, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren Nora White and husband Ben, David Bethke and wife Anna, Geary Lindsey and wife Angela, Marty Pettus and husband Scott, Amy Peppers, Sam McCaw and wife Jackie, T.Q. Rogers, Sherrie Collins and husband Mitchell, Kimberly Rogers, Jamie Villa, Krista Villa, and Kevin Hinderliter and wife Sandy; 5 great-grandchildren Kayla and Geary Lindsey, Zachary White, Wyatt McCaw and Brandon Collins.
