Darrell Thompson

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Calvary Baptist Church for Darrell Thompson of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Thompson, 73, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Rev. Rick Smith will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Caleb, Brad, Joshua, Danny, David, and Stephen.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Thursday beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Darrell was born May 6, 1942 in Oklahoma City, Oklahome; the son of Marvin Thompson and Dorothy (Graves) Thompson. He was a longtime Artesia resident.

On November 5, 1969 he was married to Elaine Arnold in New Mexico. She preceded him in death May 10, 2013.

He was a mechanic at Dean's Electric for many years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of Calvary Baptist and a former member of Faith Baptist Church. Darrell liked to rock hunt, go camping and coon hunting. He also enjoyed gardening and loved the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Tommy Holder, and brothers Ronnie and Harold Thompson.

Survivors include his daughters Donna Mae Tate of Oklahoma, OK, Lisa Deel and husband Danny of Lubbock, TX and Kathy Miller of Ruidoso, NM; grandchildren Caleb, Brad, Brittany, Kristin. Alisha, Joshua and Clinton; 6 great-grandchildren; sister Kay White of Avery, TX; brothers Tommy Thompson of Artesia and Alfred Thompson of Artesia.
