Mr. Daniel Canales passed away May 2, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 19, 1935 in San Angelo, Tx to Juan Canales and Dolores Galindo. He was the fourth child born of his family.
Services are scheduled for 9:30 am Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace Tuesday, May 7, 2024 beginning at 2:00 p.m. A rosary will immediately follow at 5:30 p.m.
Father Vijay will officiate the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Juan Canales, Zac Hernandez, Jose Ruiz, Anthony Rivera, Guadalupe Ruiz, and Angelo Gabaldon. Honorary pallbearers are Sonny Molina, Mike Fuentes Gracie Bustamante, Klara Aguilar, Gabriela Rivera, Dolores Mariscal, and Melissa Canales.
On April 4, 1956 Daniel married the love of his life, Manuela (Nellie) Martinez. Together they raised ten children. They celebrated 55 years together until her passing in 2011.
Daniel was employed at Navajo Refinery and retired in 1992. After retiring, he and Nellie enjoyed traveling and supporting their grandchildren in their many sports and school activities. He loved watching the Artesia Bulldogs and his favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys.
Daniel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Manuela, parents, Juan Canales and Dolores Galindo, brothers, Juan Canales, Rito Canales, Richard Canales, and Felix Canales, and sister Jesusita Leaton.
Those left to cherish his memory are sons Armando Canales, Guadalupe (Wally) Canales and wife Irene, Edward Canales, and Ernesto Canales and wife Rosie, daughters, Sandra Canales, Yolanda Canales, Lucy Aguilar and Regino, Priscilla Canales, Veronica Canales, and Beatrice Gabaldon and husband Luis, brother Salvador (Chava) Flores sister Adela Gonzalez, and 31 Grandchildren, 50 Great Grandchildren, & 1 Great Great Grandchild.
We would like to thank the staff at J&J Home Health Care and Laura, Debra, Cristina, Cierra, and Bonnie from Enhabit Hospice for the excellent care they provided for our father.
Daniel was a great man, a loving husband, an amazing father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed.
