Daisy Smith

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 20, at Eighth Grand Church of Christ, for Daisy Mattie Smith, 112 S. 33rd Steet, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Smith, 91, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center in Artesia. J. T. Ross will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Avis Cemetery in Avis, New Mexico with Wayne Bedingfield officiating. Pallbearers will be Mrs. Smith's grandsons. Daisy was born February 19, 1911 in Avis; the daughter of Martin Christopher Munson and Cora Mae Hammond Munson. On June 5, 1927 she was married to Charley H. Smith in Avis. They came to Artesia from Avis in 1949. Her husband preceded her in death July 30, 1986. She was a housewife and member of Eighth Grand Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers; three sisters; and by a daughter Susie Smith in 1940. Survivors include sons Gerald Smith and wife Thelma of Colville, Wash. and Don Smith and wife Shirley of Artesia; daughters Roberta Miller of Alamogordo, N.M., Sharon Jones and husband Floyd of Spokane, Wash. and Geneva Holland and husband Cicero of Artesia;, sister Juanita Mahaffey and husband Oran of Artesia; 21 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
