Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at Terpening Son Chapel for Curtis Ray Haskins, 1109 S. 2nd St, Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Haskins, 92, died Saturday, December 17, 2011 at his daughters home in Moriarty NM.
Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jamey Smith, Bill Bennett, Curtis Bennett, Danny Abner, J.C. Abner,and Rudy Sifuentez. Honorary pallbearers will be Hollis Baldree, and Lowell Irby.
Curtis was born April 20, 1919 in Henderson, Texas the son of Dock Haskins and Clifford Watson Haskins. He came to Artesia in 1941 from Henderson.
On June 3, 1939 he was married to Clovis Russell in Beckville, Texas. She preceded him in death Feb. 8, 1965. On June 12, 1965 he was married to Lauranne Reynolds in Maljamar, N.M.
He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was an artist and entreprenuer, and also a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, and longtime companion Berniece Meachem.
Survivors include a daughter Debra Bennett and husband Billy of Moriarty, NM son Jamey Smith of Artesia helped raise and considered as his own Maureen Rogers Lemke and Judy Kay Abner brother James Haskins of Henderson, Texas nieces Yvonne Baldree of Whitehouse, Texas, and Vivian Ashby of Henderson greatnephews Bill Baldree of Vidalia, Georgia, and Mike Baldree of Blooming Grove, Texas greatniece Diane Thompson of Henderson grandchildren Chandra Martin of Moriarty, Curtis Bennett of Moriarty, Erika Smith of Artesia, Jessikah Smith of San Marcos, Texas, Marlee Smith of Artesia, Chris Lemke of San Marcos, J.C. Abner of Artesia, and Kayla Abner of Artesia greatgrandchildren Bailey, Hope, and Jordan Bennett, Austin and Ashlee Martin, Alexys and Jayce Murillo.
