Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Mar. 27, at Faith Baptist Church for Curtis Harrison, 1502 W. James Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Harrison, 87, died Thursday, March 21, 2013 in Artesia.
Michael Elliott will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Sean Boyce, Henry Boyce, Toby Copeland, Raymond Copeland, Mark White, and Joe Bob Thurman. Honorary pallbearers will be Faith Baptist Church members, employees of C.V.E.and all of his friends.
Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Curtis was born January 24, 1926 in Loving, New Mexico the son of Thomas Louis Harrison and Jessie Vachel Dickerson Harrison. The family moved from Loving to Artesia and then Hope while Curtis was a young boy. He served in the U.S. Navy from Jan. 23, 1944 to Jan. 23, 1946. He served aboard the USS Taylor during World War II. Curtis lived in Hope until the age of 37 then moved to Artesia.
On Dec. 23, 1964 he was married to Gail White in Carlsbad, NM.
He worked at C.V.E. for 26 years before retiring. He worked in the oilfields for several years. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge 28AF AM, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason in the valley of Las Cruces .
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ike Harrison, Lynn Harrison, and Tom Harrison, sisters Marylue Eskue and husband Pet, Lottie Mae Billie James, Jessie Virginia Harrison, Connie Walters and husband H.O. Odel Walters.
Survivors include his wife Gail Harrison of Artesia son Larry Russell of Artesia daughters Terry Copeland and husband Jimmy of Hagerman, NM, Sherry Patman and husband Johnny of Artesia, and Vachel Harrison of Artesia brother Glenn Harrison and wife Janett brotherinlaw Bill White and wife Cookie sistersinlaw Kay Permenter and husband Bo, Joann White, Carol Harrison, Barbara Harrison Bedingfield, and Eula Marie Cox Harrison grandchildren Gail Copeland, Curtis Toby Copeland, Raymond Copeland, Sean Boyce, Alvis Boyce, Henry Boyce, Joe Nichols and Kristen Amanda Harrison 16 greatgrandchildren and 2 greatgreatgrandchildren numerous nieces and nephews.
