Cruz Guajardo

Services are scheduled at 9:30 am. Tuesday, March 11, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Cruz F. Guajardo, 405 York St., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Guajardo, 79, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Artesia General Hospital. Fr. Paul Murtagh SS.CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be A'Jay Booker, Jacob Guajardo, Julio Arredondo, John Guajardo, David Aragon, Lee Spencer, Johnny Ramirez, Gilbert Chavez, Audencio Guajardo and Arthur Ornelas. A rosary is also scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Grace Church. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Monday. Mrs. Guajardo was born May 3, 1928 in Ruidosa, Texas; the daughter of Manuel Fierro and Felicita Mendoza Fierro. On Jan. 13, 1951 she was married to John Guajardo Sr. in Midland, Texas. She came to Artesia in 1957 from Midland. He preceded her in death Aug. 19, 1994. She was a housewife and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Church Choir and the Cursillistas. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter Hortensia Guajardo, son-in-law Armando Marquez Sr., grandson Daniel Huerta, 4 brothers and a sister. Survivors include daughters Frances Arredondo of Artesia, Rita Castillo of Artesia, Amelia Chavez of Artesia, Maria Lawson and husband Phillip of Artesia, Margaret Guajardo of Artesia, and Rosa Guajardo of Amarillo, Texas; sons John Guajardo Jr. and wife Mary of Hobbs, N.M., Luis Guajardo and wife Sylvia of Tucson, Arizona, Manuel Guajardo and wife Lucy of Artesia, and Julian Guajardo of Artesia; brother Vicente Fierro of Artesia; 34 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren.
