Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Cruz Pacheco Chavarria, 26 Broken Arrow, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Chavarria, 96, died Friday, January 26, 2007 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center in Artesia, New Mexico. Visitation will begin Monday January 29, at 12:00 p.m. at Terpening Son Mortuary and there will also be a Rosary service on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church. Fr. Richard Lifrak SS. CC. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dennis Martinez, Rojelio Rocky Chavarria, John Olguin, Joe Olguin, Christopher Chavarria, and Pete Lopez. Honorary pallbearers will be all the grandchildren and Mike Perez. Mrs. Chavarria was born May 3, 1910 in Shafter, Texas; the daughter of Inocente Pacheco and Carmel Quintana Pacheco. On Nov. 21, 1927 she was married to Ramon Chavarria in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She came to Artesia in 1945 from Marfa, Texas. He preceded her in death Feb. 8, 1989. She was a housewife and member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She preceded in death by her parents, a son Ray Chavarria and two infant daughters, Carmelita and Lupita Chavarria; two sisters and two half-sisters, a brother and a half-brother; grandchildren, Jack, Batola, Cristobol, and Olga Martinez, Jimmy Luevano, Irene Chavarria, Elva and Mundo Chavarria, Maria Chriselda Jimenez; and great-grandchildren Selena Luevano, Michelle Moreno, Steven Joe Casares; and a daughter-in-law, Lupe Chavarria, and 2 sons-in-law Tony Martinez, Sr. and Elias Luevano. Survivors include sons, Ruben Chavarria and wife Blasa of Santa Clara, N.M., Rolando Chavarria of Artesia, Ramon Guy Chavarria and wife Jane of Artesia, Collie Raunchy Chavarria and wife Velia of Artesia; daughters, Ophelia Martinez of Artesia, Mary Luevano of Artesia, Josie Catano and husband Mack of Artesia, Elfie Granados and husband Richard of Artesia, Chris Jimenez and husband Henry of Artesia, Connie Olguin and husband John of Carlsbad, N.M.; a sister, Francisca Gonzales of Marfa, Texas; 43 grandchildren, 95 great grandchildren, 71 great-great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-great grandchildren.
