Coleman Jackson, Sr.

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, at First United Methodist Church for Coleman Floyd Jackson of Lake Arthur, New Mexico.

Mr. Jackson, 76, died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Casa Maria Nursing Center in Roswell, New Mexico.

Pastor Travis Huston will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Kittrell, Michael Health, Gary Anderson, James Partlow, Collin Robertson, and John Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be all of his friends and local farmers.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Sunday beginning at 2 p.m.

Coleman was born February 6, 1935 in Lake Arthur the son of Carroll W. Jackson and Effie D. Taylor Jackson. He was a lifelong Artesia area resident.

On November 4, 1952 he was married to Carrie Norris in Pecos, Texas.

He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church in Lake Arthur. He also attended the Clark Memorial Church. Coleman was a charter member of the Artesia Moose Lodge, a member of Elks Lodge 1717, the Farm Bureau, and National Riflemans Association.

Coleman was preceded in death by his parents brothers Jasper Jackson, and Carrol Jackson, Jr. sister Dora Irene Jackson son Frank N. Jackson and nephew Wade Jackson.

Survivors include his wife Carrie Jackson of the family home son Coleman F. Jackson, Jr. and wife Brenda of Lake Arthur daughter Tarrie Shackelford and husband Aaron of Lake Arthur sister Dolly Bassett and husband Robert of Bluewater, N.M. grandchildren Justin, Clinton, John Robert, David, Trey, Brian, Jeff, Richard, Jody, and Nicole 11 greatgrandchildren includind Darin, of the family home and Konnor sisterinlaw Opal Jackson of Hagerman, N.M. and numerous nieces and nephews.
