Clyde was born January 30, 1918 in Portales, NM; the son of Seth Stiles Tidwell and Irma (Roberts) Tidwell. He lived most of his life living on his father's ranch in Pinon every summer. During the winter months he lived in Artesia to attend school.
He graduated from Artesia High School in 1937. He was a Veteran for the U.S. Army and served in Germany at the close of WWII. He owned and operated Tidwell Drilling Company for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Artesia.
Clyde was a quiet, humble man who loved his family, loved being a grandfather to his grandchildren, enjoyed his life and his work and was a hard worker at whatever he did. The hardships of his early life left him determined to make a good life for his family and he succeeded. He never forgot the hard times but had a generous heart and a kind spirit. He always appreciated what he had like only the people from his generation can.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Vivian, four brothers, one sister, a sister-in-law, and three nieces.
Survivors include wife Lake Tidwell of the family home; one son Dennis Tidwell and his fiance Linda Mitcham of Artesia; his grandchildren Todd and Trenton Tidwell of California; step-son Terry Williamson and wife Elvira of Midland, TX; step-daughter Teresa Burns of Portland, OR; step-grandchildren Aubony Burns of Seattle, WA and Autumn Barnett and her husband Jason of Portland, OR.
He will be remembered and missed by all who loved him.
