Cleta Quain

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 3 at Calvary Baptist Church for Cleta Ray Quain, 1402 Gilchrest, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Quain, 88, died Saturday, December 29, 2001 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center. Rev. J. B. Craft and Rev. Lewis Mowery will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Danny Knight, Gary Knight, Roger Daniels, Donnie Daniels, Nicholas Hughes, and Chester Castleberry. Mrs. Quain was born June 28, 1913 in Thrifty, Texas; the daughter of Walter Howard Payne and Daisy Leona Norris Payne. On August 15, 1934, she was married to Earl Hencen Quain in Bangs, Texas. She came to Artesia in 1934. Her husband preceded her in death July 4, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Payne. She was a homemaker and member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include daughters LaJuana Daniels and husband Donald of Artesia and Gean Knight and husband Bob of Carlsbad, N.M.; grandchildren Tammy Hughes of Artesia, Donnie Daniels of Loco Hills, N.M., Roger Daniels of Denver, Colo., Gary Knight and Danny Knight both of Carlsbad and Keith Knight of Dallas, Texas; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
