Mr. Connor, 85, died Friday, September 14, 2018 at his home with his wife, Joyce, and son, Kevin by his side.

Clarence was born January 26, 1933, the son of Clarence Connor, Sr. and Wilma (Berry) Connor, in Artesia.

On March 7, 1953 he was married to Ms. Joyce Anthis in Artesia.

Clarence was a life-long Artesia resident minus the two years he served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He joined the U.S. Navy but was drafted in 1953. The Army won out and his service was spent in that branch. He served honorably and was released in 1955 spending the last year of his military service in Germany.

Clarence trained and worked as a master Electrician for his father at Connor Electric Co. for a number of years before starting and successfully operating Connor Electric and Refrigeration for some 20 years. Shortly after retiring he then became a State Electrician Inspector. He covered over half the state of New Mexico for 17 years and was respected and sought after for his knowledge and expertise before his retirement. He was an ordained Elder of the First Christian Church, a member of the First Baptist Church, Artesia Elks Lodge. In his younger years, Clarence was a volunteer fire fighter in Artesia and for over 10 years served as a first responder whenever called upon.

Clarence loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved to travel with his wife of 65 years. He was a friend to many, support to many more. He was courageous, loyal, steadfast and true. He will be missed desperately.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Craig Caldwell Connor; and a brother James W. "Jimmy" Connor.

Survivors include his wife Joyce Connor of the family home; son Kevin Connor and wife Donnita of Artesia; sister Annette Franklin of Navajo Dam, N.M.; and grandson Clarence Michael Cody Connor of Artesia.
