Clara Ross

Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 26, at First United Methodist Church for Clara Anita Ross, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Ross, 92, died Thursday, February 24, 2005 at Lakeview Christian Home in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Rev. Paul Dean Duerksen will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Null, John Ross Null, Wesley Null, Scott Takacs, Dale Taylor, and Colby Taylor. Mrs. Ross was born June 18, 1912 in Red Lodge, Montana; the daughter of Joseph Wascherle and Emilie Krail Wascherle. On July 18, 1941 she was married to Woodrow James Ross in Red Lodge. They came to Artesia in December, 1976 from Tucumcari, N.M. Her husband preceded her in death October 24, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and by two sisters and one brother. Clara received a two year teaching certificate from Eastern Montana Normal School in Billings and her Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern New Mexico University in Portales. She was a retired public school teacher having taught for 24 years in One Room schools in Montana and in schools in Tucumcari and Clayton, N.M. She was a member of First United Methodist Church; United Methodist Women; and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Survivors include her daughter Jeannine Null and husband Ronnie of Artesia; grandsons John Ross Null and wife Netta of Artesia and Wesley Null and wife Dana of Hewitt, Texas; and great-grandchildren Tori Null of Artesia, Taylor Null of Artesia, and Raegan Null of Hewitt. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1492, Artesia, NM 88211.
