Christina Mariscal

Services are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Febrary 14, 2014 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for Christina Gonzales Mariscal of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Mariscal, 85, died Monday, February 10, 2014 at Artesia General Hospital.

Fr. Martin Cornejo O.F.M. will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Luis Mariscal, Anthony Mariscal, Michael Mariscal, Israel Mariscal, Mario Mariscal, and Adrian Romo. Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grandchildren.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. A rosary will be at Our Lady of Grace Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Christina was born July 24, 1928 in Ft. Quinton, Texas the daughter of Toribio Gonzales and Eusabia Alarcon Gonzales. She came to Artesia in 1948 from Texas.

She was married to Jose C. Mariscal in Sierra Blanca, Texas.

Christina was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. She was very active at church as an Apostolado, a Crusillista, and Sacred Heart of Jesus. Other interests of hers included sewing and crafts.

She was preceded in death by her parents brothers Lino and Antonio Gonzales sister Lupe Gonzales and a granddaughter Valerie Romo.

Survivors include her former husband Jose C. Mariscal of Artesia daughters Yolanda Romo and husband Gilbert of Artesia, Janie Mariscal of Rio Rancho, N.M., Hilaria Mariscal of Las Cruces, N.M., and Rosie Muniz and husband Paul of Artesia sons Guadalupe Mariscal and wife Rosa of Artesia, Jose Mariscal and wife Elia of Artesia, Santos Mariscal and wife Helen of Artesia, Ignacio Mariscal and wife Carmen of Artesia, Manuel Mariscal and wife Martha of Artesia, Ventura Mariscal and wife Victoria of Artesia, Ramon Mariscal and wife Sally of Las Cruces, and Jesse Mariscal of Artesia 35 grandchildren 50 greatgrandchildren 2 greatgreatgrandchildren brothers Pablo Gonzales, Bonifacio Gonzales, and Pedro Gonzales all of Mexico.
