Chester Karstedt

No services are scheduled for Chester R. Karstedt of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Karstedt, 79, died Monday, August 19, 2002 in Artesia. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Mr. Karstedt was born July 24, 1923 in Hamburg, New York; the son of Chester Robert Karstedt and Martha Kaullman Karstedt. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II. He married Katherine Michael in 1946 in California. She preceded him in death in October of 1977. In 1958 he married Esther Watrous in New York. She died in July of 1982. On January 6, 1985 he was married to Kathleen Larson in Derby, N.Y. They came to Artesia on December 2, 1992 from Hamburg, N.Y. He was a retired auto mechanic and enjoyed gardening and fixing things. Survivors include his wife Kathy Karstedt of the family home; sons Richard M. Karstedt and wife Jennifer of Buffalo, N.Y. and Michael T. Karstedt and wife Kathleen J. Karstedt of Henderson, Nevada; brothers Harold Karstedt and wife Hilda of Eden, N.Y. and Glenn Karstedt of Eden; a sister Dorothy Hickock of Amherst, N.Y.; and grandchildren Daniel J.
