Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Friday, July 9, at Terpening Son Mortuary for Chester Arlen Cochran of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Cochran, 75, died Wednesday, July 7, 2004 in Artesia. John Cochran will officiate at the services. Cremation is under direction of Terpening Son Mortuary. Mr. Cochran was born June 17, 1929 in San Marcos, Texas; the son of John M. Cochran and Mellie Mae Wimberly Cochran. He served in United States Armed Forces during the Korean war. On July 17, 1962 he was married to Maria Gonzalez in El Paso, Texas. He came to Artesia in 1986 from Austin, Texas. Mr. Cochran was a barber by trade and was known in Artesia as the Dog house Man. He was a member of the Baptist denomination. Survivors include his wife Maria de Jesus Cochran of the family home; sons John L. Cochran of El Paso, Texas, Shawn Cochran and wife Michelle of Tucson, Ariz., Armando Gonzalez and wife Maggie of Austin, Texas, Mike Cochran and wife Claudie of Artesia, and Matthew Cochran and wife Elica of Artesia; daughters Vicki Calderon and husband Ramon, JoAnn Calderon and husband Santiago, and Judy Alvarez and husband Paul all of Artesia, Vivian Martinez and husband Ruben of El Paso, Texas, and Kathy Beene and husband Steve of Texas City, Texas; step-sons Sergio Bibrisca and Hugo Bibrisca both of Mexico; 39 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one niece; one nephew; two sisters-in-law; and two great-nephews.
