Charles Britton

Services are pending for Charles P. Britton, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Britton, 92, died Saturday, December 6, 2003 at Artesia General Hospital. Mr. Britton was born March 12, 1911 in Fairfield, Indiana; the son of Howard Britton and Ollie Mae Newkirk Britton. On Oct. 7,1945 he was married to Nellie Jo Williams in El Paso, Texas. He came to Artesia in 2000 from Portales, NM. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a carpenter and member of First Church of the Nazarene in Artesia. He was also a lifelong member of the Carpenters Union. Survivors include his wife Nellie Jo Britton of the family home; sons Millard Britton and wife Janie of Pierce City, Missouri, and W. Slim Britton of Picacho, NM; daughters Mary Ann Gould and husband Roy of Meridian, Idaho, and Joy MacKinnon and husband Steve of Artesia; sister Doris McCrory of Florida; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene P.O. Box 32 Artesia, NM 88211.
