Funeral services for Charlene Crook will be held at First Baptist Church in Artesia on Monday, June 6 at 10:00a.m. followed by an interment service at the Hagerman Cemetery.
Mrs. Crook, 81, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.
Ty Houghtaling and Jess McCabe will officiate at the services. Pallbearers will be Robert Crook, Joby Morris, Wesley Ivans, Russell Crook, Ty Crook, Tim Duncan, Jason Krogman, and Hector Montanez. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her granddaughters.
Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Sunday, June 5, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Charlene Crook was born August 11, 1934 in Lake Arthur, N.M. to Willard Needham and Georgia (Mills) Needham.
She married Thomas Arthur Crook on November 11, 1950 in Pecos, Texas. He preceded her in death on September 19, 1999. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
She was a lifelong member of Lake Arthur Baptist Church where she served as music director for several years. Charlene was a devoted farm wife and loved spending time with her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed working at the Cottonwood Fire Department where she proudly served on the election polling committee. Charlene was an avid home interior decorator and sold home interior for many years in the Pecos Valley.
She is survived by her children Johnny & wife Pat Crook, Pat & husband Larry Ivans, Janie & husband Brad Morris, and Mark & wife Denise Crook all living in the Lake Arthur/Artesia area. She has 11 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Charlene's siblings include her brother Jerry & wife Kay Needham, sister Peggy & husband Bill Scott, and brother Lewis & wife Susan Needham.
