Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 17, at West Main Baptist Church for Ceigal LaVerne Grimlan, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Grimlan, 90, died Saturday, December 13, 2003 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Rev. George Merritt and Rev. J. Mark Robinson will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mack Magdaleno, Steve Willard, Perry Conner, Stephen Garcia, Michael Garcia, and Joe Willis. Mrs. Grimlan was born April 3,1913 in Vivian Community, Crowell, Texas; the daughter of Johnny William Carroll and Olive Sorrels Carroll. On May 31, 1930 she was married to Clarence Cecil Grimlan in Lovington, N.M. She came to Artesia in 1930 from Brownfield, Texas. Her husband preceded her in death July 30, 1973. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, four brothers, and by a son-in-law Bill Gressett. She was a bookkeeper for Kersey Drilling Company. She was a member of West Main Baptist Church, and a member of the local TOPS club for many years, holding the KOPS award for almost 30 years. Survivors include daughters LaVerne Gressett of Artesia, Linorie Nivens and husband Claude of Lebanon, Tenn., Delma Jean Ingram and husband Ken of Artesia, and Mardell Butler and husband Jerry of Spokane, Wash.; sister-in-law Jodell Conner of Artesia; grandchildren Judy Willard of Artesia, Becky Willis of Carlsbad, Irene Magdaleno of Artesia, Connie Brenstuhl of Hope Mills, North Carolina, Lynda Carol Phipps of Smyrna, Tenn., Carl Wayne Nivens of Mt. Vernon, New Hampshire, David Christopher Nivens of Hollis, New Hampshire, Robert Patton of Sacramento, Calif., and Ronald Patton of Spokane, Wash.; 21 great-grandchildren including: Allen and Kevin Willard, and Arlene, Victoria, Raymond, and Thomas Magdaleno all of Artesia; one great-great-grandson; a niece Connie Conner of Artesia; and a nephew Perry Conner of Artesia.
