C.E. Tucker

February 16, 1937 — October 25, 2005

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, at Centre Ave. Baptist Church for C. E. "Arkie" Tucker, 1306 W. Bush Ave., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Tucker, 68, died Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at his home.

Pastor Kenneth C. Heck will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be  Michael Shannon, Dennis Davis, Montie Hickey, Brandon Davis, Jonathan Shannon, and Joshua Shannon.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Jarrod Davis, Ryan Hickey, Lonnie Archer, Charles Buxton, Buck Hamilton, H.W. Davis, Dan Harvey, Tony Croci, and all friends.

Mr. Tucker was born February 16, 1937 in Fulton, Mississippi; the son of William C. Tucker and Ladell (Cassidy) Tucker.

On December 14, 1957 he was married to Odessa Starr in Lovington, N.M.  He came to Artesia in 1956 from Trumann, Arkansas.

He was a driller in the oil field where he retired after 45 years of service; and was a faithful member of Centre Ave. Baptist Church.

Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife Odessa Tucker of the family home; daughters Diane Davis and husband Dennis of Artesia, Genia Hickey and husband Montie of Artesia, and Anita Shannon and husband Michael of Artesia; sisters Daisy Moore of Duck Hill, Miss., Edna Goff of Trumann, Ark., Martha Norris of Harrisburg, and Mattie Whitright of Stevensville, Mich.; grandchildren Brandon, Kimberly and Jarrod Davis, Jonathan and Joshua Shannon and Ryan Hickey all of Artesia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
