Cassandra Chavarria

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Trinity Temple Assembly for Cassandra Chavarria of Artesia.

Ms. Chavarria, 34, died Friday, January 16, 2015 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Bob Miller will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Casares, Angel Garcia, Roy Hinds, Brandon Hinds, Paul Casares, Jamie Williams, Anthony Ponce, Joseph Ponce, Jimmy Ponce and Ricky Ponce. Honorary pallbearers are Steve Casares, Jr., Rodrigo Lira, Concho family and Prestige Oil family.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Cassandra was born October 9, 1980 in Alamogordo, NM; the daughter of Eli Chavarria and Peggy (Casares) Chavarria. She was a lifelong resident of Artesia.

She was an administrative assistant. She loved people and was very active in her church. She enjoyed volunteering in the community, loved to read her Bible, play softball, dance, workout, and spend time with family and friends. She was in the process of starting Crisis Pregnancy Help with the church to talk to teens about pregnancy and drugs.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include her mother Peggy Baggerly of Grove, OK; sons Angel Garcia of Artesia, Benjamin Garcia of Artesia and Carter Garcia of Artesia; daughters Staci Chavarria of Artesia and Chyna Chavarria of Artesia; step-brother Kevin Baggerly of Artesia; step-sister Amanda Baggerly of Artesia; sisters Carrie Duran of Roswell, NM, Marla Barnes of Ft. Worth, TX, and Elianna Longoria of Midland, TX; grandsons Jaiden Chavarria and Moses Chavarria; grandmothers Consuelo Casares of Artesia, and Olivia Chavarria of Artesia; grandfather Steve Casares Sr. of Roswell, NM; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews..
