Carrie Meacham

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, at Terpening Son Mortuary for Carrie Bernice Meacham, 1109 S. Second St., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Meacham, 90, died Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at her home. Rev. Walt Isaacs and Rev. J. B. Craft will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Bill Bennett and Curtis Bennett. Mrs. Meacham was born March 27, 1917 in Floydada, Texas; the daughter of John Wallace Garner and Sarah Garner. On June 10, 1942 she was married to Bill Meacham in Spartanburg, S.C. They came to Artesia in 1947 from Amarillo, Texas. He preceded her in death August 27, 1980. She was a homemaker and member of the Methodist denomination and former member of the Artesia Women's Club. Survivors include her lifelong friend and companion Curtis Haskins of the family home; step-daughter Debra Bennett and husband Bill of Moriarty, N.M.; a sister Ellen Lloyd of Napa, Calif. step-grandchildren Chandra Martin of Temple, Texas and Curtis Bennett of Moriarty, five step-great-grandchildren numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
