Carrie Horton

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 21, at Twin Oaks Memorial Park, for Carrie Horton, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Horton, 92, died Friday, June 18, 2004 at Artesia General Hospital. Mike Prude will officiate at the services. Mrs. Horton was born February 19, 1912 in Post Oak, Texas; the daughter of William J. Davis and Ellen Pullin Davis. On Aug. 2, 1930 she was married to Arthur R. Arch Horton in Post Oak. She came to Artesia in August 12, 1937 from Texas. He preceded her in death March 16, 1965. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, and a grandson. Survivors include daughters Autherean Prude and husband Norman of Artesia, and Erlene Newcomb and husband John of Houston, Texas; sister Dorothy Marie Petri of Fairfield, Texas; grandchildren Linda Lou Purcella and husband Les of Las Cruces, N.M., Michael Lee Prude and wife Jessica of Artesia, Sue Ann Prude of Artesia, and Jenny Newcomb of Mission, Texas; great-grandchildren Carrie Ann Purcella of Lubbock, Texas, Micah Lea Purcella of Lubbock, Tyrel Lee Prude of Artesia, Amanda Rene Prude of Artesia, and Andrew Lee Prude of Artesia.
