Carolyn Harpster

Carol Harpster, 97, died Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at San Pedro Nursing Center in Artesia, New Mexico.

Cremation will take place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary. Burial will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with her late husband Robert.

Carolyn was born February 17, 1918 in Ball Club, Minnesota; the daughter of Frank and Rosanna Payne.

Carol attended school at the University of Minnesota, where she graduated then went to the Minnesota School of Business. She worked for Sears in Minneapolis as a secretary, then at Honeywell and also in Los Angeles, California as a legal secretary. Before returning to Minnesota, she worked for a while at the Title & Trust Company in Los Angeles. Upon returning to Minnesota, she married Bernard Henrikson. She was a homemaker and loved to garden, paint, and run the roller rink for her parents and help with the business.

After seven years, Bernard passed away, and Carol was then married to Robert Harpster and they traveled the world in a R.V. until his death in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers James Payne and Dr. Royal Payne.

Survivors include her very good friends Mary Beard, Paul and Peggy Anaya, and Tina Hernandez.
