On Friday, January 10, 2014, Virginia Carolyn Apple went home to be with her Lord. Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Sullivan officiating.
Carolyn was born June 24, 1929 in Aberdeen, North Carolina the daughter of James A. Lineberry and Almira Johnson Lineberry. She was the 7th of 9 children. She graduated from high school in Cary, North Carolina, and shortly after that met the love of her life. Carolyn claimed, with a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face, that she was one of three girlfriends, in her neighborhood, of Harvey Sheridan Apple. After their courtship Carolyn and Harvey were married on September 18, 1948, in Raleigh, N.C., thus making Carolyn the real Apple of Harveys eye. The couple spent the next 8 years in Raleigh before moving to Artesia in 1956. Carolyn loved being a homemaker and her passion was taking care of her family, creating culinary delights, quilting and sewing, and hosting the neighborhood coffee group at her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Artesia.
Survivors include son Harvey S. Apple, Jr. and wife Patty of Murfreesboro, Tennessee daughter Carol Ann Apple and fiance Jim Spence of Artesia sisters Mary L. Strong of Alexandria, Virginia, and Jackie Marshall of Cleveland, Georgia granddaughter Anna Dell Apple of Murfreesboro numerous nieces and nephews including John Yates, Jr. of Artesia brotherinlaw John Yates, Sr. of Artesia.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Apple, Sr., on February 10, 2003 her parents three brothers and three sisters.
Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary Tuesday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Pallbearers will be Trampas Spence, Dan Cogar, Calder Ezzell, Steve Spence, Owen Meinke, Robert Crook, Paul Alvarez, and Steve Hollinger. Honorary pallbearers include Jimmie Don Graham, Bill Grisham, Mike Meinke, Les Rinderknecht, Kent Whitmire, Don Johnston, Paul Vega, Jerry Burns, Reggie Phillips, Ruben Hernandez, Sr., John A. Yates, Sr., Bubbles Webb, Paul Sloan, and Eli Herrera.
We know Carolyns beautiful smile will be shining on us all.
The family requested that memorial contributions may be made to B.P.O. DOES scholarship fund or to the charity of your choice.
