Carolina Alaniz

On Thursday, June 12, 2003, our beloved Carolina Ochoa Alaniz, daughter of Flavia Sosa and Luis Ochoa, died peacefully at her home. Born on September 19, 1907, in Dayton, New Mexico, Carolina lived in Artesia all of her life. She married Salvador Alaniz on April 8, 1926 and was preceded in death by her husband, Salvador, on December 10, 1952 and her son Elias Alaniz on July 13, 1956. Survivors include Henry and Clara Alaniz, Rachel and Emilio Gonzales and Tommie and Eliseo Doporto of Artesia; Gloria Keahbone and Eva Alantz of Santa Fe, N.M.; Virginia Alaniz de Read and Bob Read and Linda Alaniz married to John Harrison of Las Vegas, N.M.; and Sal and Ruth Anne Alaniz of El Paso, Texas. Carolina had 32 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren, And 28 great-great grandchildren. Carolina was a life-time member of the Spanish Baptist Church in Artesia. Pastor Abelardo Bolanos will officiate at the services which will be held on Friday, June 13, 2003, at 2:00 p.m. at the West Main Baptist Church located at 1701 W. Main. There will be no public viewing. Family members will be at the church prior to the services. Carolina will be missed by those who loved her and those whose lives she touched.
