Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, at First Baptist Church for Carol Jean Griffin of Artesia, New Mexico.
Mrs. Griffin, 68, died Thursday, January 1, 2015 at Artesia General Hospital.
Pastor Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
Carol was born May 2, 1946 in Portland, Oregon; the daughter of Maurice Klatt and Jewel (Cone) Klatt. She came to Artesia in 1981 from Watsonville, California.
On July 3, 1984 she was married to Robert Griffin in Loco Hills, NM.
She was a housewife and a member of First Baptist Church. She was dedicated to Paws and Claws, enjoyed crafts and held the annual Hometown Crafts event for 10 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband Robert Griffin of Artesia; step-sons Calvin Griffin of San Juan Capistrano, CA and Keith Griffin of Lovington, NM; brothers Henry Klatt and wife Angie of Salinas, CA, Phil Klatt and wife Mary of Central Point, OR and Paul Klatt of Chicago, IL; brothers-in-law Vernon Griffin of Lubbock, TX and Thomas Griffin of Lovington; sister-in-law Vestel Lair of Lovington; numerous nieces and nephews, and all those that called her Mom.
Memorial contributions can be made to Artesia Paws and Claws.
