Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Woodbine Cemetery for Christine McDonald of Artesia, New Mexico.
Chris McDonald, 91, died December 31, 2020 in Artesia.
Pastor Bobby Argo will officiate at the services. Burial will follow the services at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Hammond, Stanley Hammond, Brett Smith, Micah Hammond, Stran Hammond, Hudson Hammond, Leland Davis, Caisen Smith, Rustin Smith and Brantley James Hammond.
Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 2 to 4 pm on Tuesday.
Chris was born June 7, 1929 in Coleman TX to L. B. Hough, Sr. and Elsie George Hough.
On February 16, 1950 she was married to Billy A. Walters. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1984. On May 11, 1966 she was married to W.L. McDonald. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1999.
She was a longtime Artesia resident and was a hairdresser for 57 years. She was a member of Trinity Temple Assembly of God and was very involved with her church. She loved the Lord and truly had a servant's heart. She was active at the Senior Center and would often gather food and cook for the elderly and shut-ins. She was named as the Senior Citizen of the Year for Eddy County NM celebrated on June 2, 2006. Chris was the first one to bring Merle Norman Cosmetics to Artesia. She loved Artesia and people loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include her son Billy J. Walters of Albuquerque, NM; daughters Karen Killgore of Carlsbad, NM and Jeanie Smith of Alto, NM; sisters Hattie Samuelson of Texas City, Texas, and Lou Koch of Kerrville, Texas; grandchildren Charles Hammond, Stanley Hammond, Brooke Young, Brett Smith, Amber Walters and Kirstyn Walters; and by nine great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
