Carlos Leyba

Services are scheduled at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Trinity Temple Assembly of God for Carlos Jiminez Leyba Jr., 1114 S. 4th St., Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Leyba, 61, died Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas.

Pastor Bobby Argo and Jack Brannan will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Urias, David Chavarria, Tim Leyba Jr., Pedro Carrera, Sammy Leyba Jr., and Jonathon Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Arturo McNeil, Joshua Lopez, Glen Troublefield and Jordan Martinez.

Carlos was born March 13, 1951 in Artesia the son of Carlos Garcia Leyba Sr. and Paula Jiminez Leyba. He was a lifelong resident.

On Dec. 16, 1972 he was married to Esther Aguilar in Carlsbad, N.M.

He was a derrick hand a member of Trinity Assembly of God. He was active at the Senior Citizens Center and an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Artesia Bulldogs.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Victor Leyba.

Survivors include his wife Esther Leyba of Artesia son Carlos Leyba III of Artesia daughter Cynthia Goldston of Artesia brothers Alfred Leyba of Hobbs, NM, and Sammy Leyba Sr. of Odessa, Texas sister Angie Carrera of Artesia grandchildren Victoria Leyba, Kristian Goldston, and Keegan Goldston numerous nieces and nephews.
