Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, at First United Methodist Church for Wesley Carl Stuffings of Artesia.
Mr. Stuffings, 77, died Tuesday morning, April 29, 2014 in Denver.
Rev. Monty Leavell will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place.
Carl was born December 5, 1936, in Pleasanton, Kansas to Jesse Howard Stuffings and Ethel Pauline Queen Stuffings.
He received his Bachelors degree from Kansas State Teachers College in 1958 and moved to Artesia to teach in the public schools. He completed his Masters degree in 1964. He taught several subjects including Industrial Arts, Mechanical Drawing, History and Government. He retired in 1991 and then taught part time until 1995.
Carl was a Life Member of the National Education Association a member of the New Mexico Education Association and was member and served as treasurer of the Artesia Association of Educational Retirees. In addition, he served faithfully as a volunteer for Artesia Credit Union, as a member of both the credit committee and the Supervisory Committee. He was Chairman of the Supervisory Committee from 1986 until the present.
He was an active member of First United Methodist Church where he served on several committees including Outreach and Finance. He was a charter member of the Methodist Mens Prayer Breakfast and was Chief Cook for many years and was a charter member of the First Door on the Left Sunday School class. He loved his church and his church family.
Survivors include a sister Marilyn Stults nephews David Wiggins and Tom Wiggins and a niece Diana Pennington.
He requested memorial contributions be made to the Food Pantry of First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1492, Artesia, NM 88211.
