Carl Dodd

Memorial services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 8, at Faith Baptist Church for Carl Leon Dodd of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Dodd, 81, died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at his home.

Michael Elliott will officiate at the services. Burial has taken place at Woodbine Cemetery.

Carl was born October 8, 1934 in Melrose, New Mexico; the son of Ottis and Artie Dodd.
On March 13, 1974 he was married to Vella Hartsfield in Clovis, N.M. They came to Artesia in 1997 from Albuquerque, N.M. She preceded him in death November 19, 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a daughter Becky Lynn Finney.

Carl worked as a farmer, then a boilerman for Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, and finally a greeter at Walmart in Artesia. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, the Artesia Senior Center, and played his guitar and sang at the Mealsite every week. He was also a volunteer Firefighter in Melrose.

Survivors include his son Scott Dodd and wife Sandra of Albuquerque; daughters Darla Dodd of Albuquerque, and Tammy Williams of The family home; 6 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
