Calvin Terpening

Graveside services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 18 at Woodbine Cemetery for Calvin Dean Terpening, 4903 Eastwind Road, Artesia, New Mexico. Family friend J.T. Ross will officiate at the services
Mr. Terpening, 72, died Sunday, December 12, 1999 at Artesia Good Samaritan Center.

Cal was born February 23, 1927 in Artesia; the son of Ralph Lucas Terpening and Hester Theresa Schneider Terpening. He graduated from Artesia High School and attended mortuary school in St. Louis, Mo.

On June 1, 1952 he was married to Jean Mitchell in Alamogordo, N.M.

He was retired owner and operator of Terpening amp; Son Mortuary and member of First United Methodist Church. He was a Lifetime Member of the Artesia Downtown Lions Club and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife Jean Terpening of the family home; a son Jerry Terpening and wife Nancy of Artesia; a daughter Susan Francis and husband James of Hobbs, N.M.; a brother Bill Terpening, Sr. of Troup, Texas; grandchildren: Amanda Terpening of Lubbock, Texas, Rebecca Terpening of Artesia, Barbara Francis, Paul Francis, and Karen Francis all of Hobbs; and six nephews and four nieces.
