Burndene Kendrick

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 28, at the First Baptist Church for Mrs. Burndene Kendrick of Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Kendrick died December 23, 2006 in Amarillo, Texas. PRev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Visitation will be at Terpening amp; Son Mortuary Wednesday night beginning at 6:00 p.m. PMrs. Kendrick was born February 9, 1915 in Marvel, Alabama to Newt and Maud Harper. PShe married Watson Kendrick on March 6, 1937 in Columbiana, Alabama. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2002. She was also preceded in death by two brothers; Durwood Harper and Grant Harper. PThey moved to Artesia in 1952 from Wattis, Utah and she then moved to Amarillo in 2005. PShe was an Artesia resident for over fifty years. She was a homemaker and was famous for her good southern cooking Chicken and dumplings, coconut cake and wonderful pies just to name a few. She was a talented seamstress with a blue ribbon to prove it. She crocheted many afghans that her family will treasure for many years as they will the many oil paintings she completed. She was a member of First Baptist Church were she taught Sunday School for many years. PSurvivors include her son Tom Kendrick and wife Julia of Amarillo; grandchildren Tara Dustin and husband Ross of Pittsburg, California, and Royce Kendrick of Amarillo; great-granddaughter Amy Dustin of Pittsburg; brother Maxwell Harper and his wife Jeanette; and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
