Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 23, at Hermosa Drive Church of Christ for Buddy E. Taylor of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Taylor, 77, died Friday, June 20, 2003 in Artesia. Gary Taylor of Pecos, Texas and J. T. Ross will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Brad Morris, Harold Huntsman, Jimmy Mason, Randy Taylor, Clay Taylor and Mike Pitts. Honorary pallbearers will be Arnold Taylor, Dale Taylor, Steve Taylor, Larry Taylor, Mutt Shannon, Charles Perry, Don Moore, Dr. Jorge Abalos, Dr. Owen C. Taylor, Jack Smith, Harvey Taylor, Benny Mason, Hal Crenshaw, Cal Crenshaw, and all members of the Dairy Queen Coffee Club. Mr. Taylor was born January 9, 1926 in Lamesa, Texas; the son of James Edward Taylor and Bird Parrish Taylor. He came from there to Artesia in the early 1930's. On March 3, 1944 he was married to Nita Crenshaw in Carlsbad, N.M. from Lamesa, Texas. He was a farmer, cattle broker and restaurant owner. He was a member of the Church of Christ; the Dairy Queen Coffee Club; National Appaloosa Association, Artesia Roping Club, Eddy County Fair Board; A.A.G.A Board of Directors; and the N.M. Cattleman's Association. He was preceded in death by his parents; by brothers J. L. Taylor, Clovis Fat Taylor, Ed Taylor, and Charlie Taylor; and by sisters Nadine Sis Nagel and Pauline Renshaw. Survivors include his wife Nita Taylor of the home; sons Stanley E. Taylor and wife Barby of Roswell N.M. and Tom Taylor and wife Patty of Artesia; daughters Mary Gayle Wood and husband Jerry of Roswell and Janell Smith and husband David of Artesia; sisters Maggie Prentice of Abilene, Texas and JoAnn Hayes of Clovis, N.M.; a brother Idos Taylor of San Angelo, Texas; grandchildren LeAnn Martin and husband Rick of Artesia, Dusty Taylor and wife Kara of Abilene, Kelli Taylor of Artesia, Jody Taylor of Roswell, Buddy Haider and wife Jordan of Roswell, Leslie Lee and husband Chad of Roswell and Marti Shea Haider of Denver, Colo.; a great-granddaughter Taylor Avery of Artesia; step-great-granddaughters Sydney Martin and Breeann Martin of Artesia; and numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Placement Fund of the New Mexico Christian Children's Home - 356 NM 236 - Portales, NM 88130. Visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary will begin at 1:00 P.M. Sunday.
