Bobby Austin

Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6, at Bethel Baptist Church for Bobby Lee Austin, 901 N. 8th St., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Austin, 53, died Wednesday, September 26, 2007 in Lubbock, Texas. Rev. Thomas Ford will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Margarito Alvarado, Rickey Kimble, Michael Thompson, Rodney Earl, Roosevelt Harvey, Johnny Saiz and Roosevelt Spillman. Honorary pallbearers will be Robin Austin, Rodney Austin, Joshua Hutson and Damon Austin. The family will be receiving friends during visitation at Terpening Son Mortuary from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m on Friday. Mr. Austin was born September 26, 1953 in Artesia, New Mexico. He was a lifelong resident of Artesia. He played basketball in high school, worked in the oil fields, towed vehicles, worked on computers, was a carpenter and a plumber. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his sisters Charlene and Jean Ellen. Survivors include his mother Jessie Lee Austin; sons Robin Austin, Rodney Austin and wife Elena, Damon Austin and wife Christina, and Joshua Hutson; daughter Jessica Austin; brothers McKinley Cunningham and wife Lillie, and Sherman Cunningham; sisters Mary Ethel Swindle, Jesselene Jackson and husband Charles, Linda Cunningham, Carolyn Cunningham-Malloy, Charlotte Austin, and Sharon Smith; grandchildren Gabriel, Malik, Daven and Jayden; and by a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends.
