Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 10, at Terpening Son Mortuary for Bobbie Powell, 61 Havenhill Road, Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Powell, 88, died Sunday, July 7, 2002 at Artesia General Hospital in Artesia. Rev. Bob Lewis and Rev. Walt Isaacs will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Walter Powell, Dave Powell, Steve Powell, Clay Powell, Sam Russell and Craig Henderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Reed, Homer Trujillo, Deven Trujillo, Tommy Powell, Tyler Powell, Dave Powell, Blaine Powell and Gage Pennington. Mrs. Powell was born April 9,1914 in Pinon, New Mexico; the daughter of James Dean and Minnie Scoff Dean. On January 5, 1932, she was married to Louis Powell in Roswell, N.M. She came to Artesia from El Paso Canyon, N.M. in 1949. Her husband preceded her in death May 10, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She was a homemaker and member of the Lakewood Baptist Church and Lakewood Extension Club, farmed and ranched, and was skilled in many handcrafts. She always kept her home open for friends and family. Survivors include sons Bob Powell and wife Laurel of Corrales, N.M., Tom Powell and wife Robbie of Hagerman, N.M and Donny Powell of Artesia; daughters Joy Tenorio and husband Ralph of Lakeside, Arizona, and Carolyn Russell and husband Charles of Midland, Texas; sister Dulce Stevenson of Roswell, NM; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren.
