Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 8 at First Baptist Church for Bob Horner, R339 N. Bolton Road, Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Horner, 77, died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Mr. Horners nephews Aaron Horner, Ross Horner, Billy Horner, Craig Liles, Jimmy Liles, Steve Terry and Casey Terry. Honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Adult 5 Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church. Bob was born August 12, 1924 in Wichita Falls, Texas; the son of Robert Cowdrey Horner and Lillian Beatrice Smith Horner. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. On October 8, 1950 he was married to Maxine Callahan in Artesia. He came to Artesia in 1945 from Texas. He was a farmer and was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church. He served as a director of the Soil Conservation Service and was a board member of Artesia Alfalfa Growers Association. Mr. Horner was preceded in death by his parents; and by two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife Maxine Horner of the family home; sons Robert Horner and wife Pam of Artesia, Kevin Horner of Artesia and Kern Horner and wife JoBeth of Artesia; a daughter Cheryl Burks and husband Rick of Artesia; a brother Ronald Horner and wife Patti of Artesia; sisters Elizabeth Terry and husband Kent of Artesia and Mary Liles and husband Jim of Artesia; and grandchildren Kane Horner and Logan Horner of Artesia, KayAnne Rogers of Artesia, Cami Chambers and Kael Chambers of Artesia, and Brandon Burks and Bradley Burks of Sulphur Springs, Texas.
