Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, at First Presbyterian Church for Billy Snowden of , Artesia, New Mexico.
Mr. Snowden, 69, died Friday, April 30, 2010 at Artesia General Hospital.
Reverend Dan Phelps will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery.
Mr. Snowden was born in Pangburn, Arkansas on April 14, 1941 to Avis Williams and Delford Snowden. He came to Artesia at an early age with his mother and stepfather. He was married in 1960 to Sharon Naylor.
Billy went to work at a very early age to help earn a living for his family. He started driving a hay truck at the age of 12. He has driven a truck for Groendyke and Steere, was a hay hauler, worked in the oil field from New Mexico to Alaska, and owned his own trucks. He was a tool pusher for L M drilling until an accident in 1991 which forced an early retirement. Billy owned and drove a dump truck until 2008 when another accident caused retirement again.
Billy is survived by his wife of 50 years Sharon, and children Aleene Ivy and husband Larry of Artesia, and Bobby Snowden of Ruidoso. The best grandchildren in the world: Landon and Stephanie Ivy of Artesia, Lance and Leigh Ann Ivy of Las Cruces, Kyle Snowden of Artesia and Krysta Snowden of Las Cruces. He was Partner to Aubree, Jadyn, Logan and Landry Joe Ivy the four cutest greatgrandchildren ever. He is also survived by a sister: Patricia Montith, nephew Mike Plank and greatnephews Michael Lynn Plank and Jerry Duke Plank and several other nieces, nephews, and great nephews and nieces. He is also survived by brotherinlaw Jimmy and wife Carol, sisterinlaw Nila Martin and host of great friends.
Pallbearers will be Landon Ivy, Lance Ivy, Kyle Snowden, Krysta Snowden, Sheryl Baker, Ronnie Shannon, Jimmy Naylor, Jimmy Dean Naylor, Michael Plank II, and Russ Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Bartlett, Henry Jimenez, C.E. LaRue, Eddie LaRue, Loyd Doughty, Larry Troublefield, Shane Baker, Rusty Clark, Billy Hummel, Leslie Tete Hendricks and all other friendsl
