Memorial services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, at Trinity Temple Assembly for Billy R. Colwell of Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Colwell, 75, died Friday, November 21, 2008 at the Artesia General Hospital Emergency Room. Bobby Argo will officiate at the services. Private family inurnment will be at Woodbine Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons Brian Baize, Michael E. Mullett, Jr., Terry Colwell II, Trace Borden, Josh Wallace; and great-grandsons Michael Mullett III, and Zane Baize. Mr. Colwell was born November 17, 1933 in Vance, Texas; the son of W.F. Colwell and Frances B. Terry Colwell. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On August 15, 1953 he was married to Barbara Burck in Hobbs, New Mexico. He came to Artesia in 1979 from Brownfield, Texas. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2002. He then married Lois Oliver on November 2, 2006 in Artesia. Billy was also preceded in death by his parents; sister Lettie Ann Jarrett; and brother John P. Colwell. He transferred to Artesia with City Service Company as an operations supervisor. He later worked for Yates Petroleum and retired from Navajo Refinery. Billy was of the Baptist denomination. Survivors include his wife Lois Oliver of the family home; daughters Tina Mullett and husband Mike of Denver, Colorado, Theresa Baize and husband Tim of Artesia, and Cynthia Wallace and husband Blaine of Artesia; son Terry Colwell and wife Ginger of Artesia; sister Glenda Nell Ragland of San Saba, Texas; grandchildren Tosha Fuentes of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Tiffany Hooten and husband James of Denver, Tahnee Hill of Las Cruces, N.M., Brian Baize of Artesia, Kerry Hennelly and husband John of Cheyenne, Michael E. Mullett, Jr. of Cheyenne, Terry Colwell II and wife Danielle of Artesia, Trace Borden of Cheyenne, Josh Wallace of Artesia, Tao Colwell of Artesia, Whitney Baize of Artesia, and Jacqueline Wallace of Artesia; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Habitat for Humanity or charity of your choice.
