Bill Swafford

Services are scheduled at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, at Terpening Son Chapel for Bill J. Swafford, 1402 Gilchrist Ave. Apt, Artesia, New Mexico.

Mr. Swafford, 83, died Thursday, September 2, 2010 in Midland, Texas.

Justin Swafford will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be greatnephews Ricky Swafford, Justin Swafford, Stuart Swafford, Joshua Grantham, Brandon Grantham, and Jeff Holder. Honorary pallbearers will be all other greatnephews and nieces.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 2 p.m. Monday.

Mr. Swafford was born October 14, 1926 in Burham, Arkansas the son of William Edward Swafford and Bonnie B. Jenkins Swafford.
He was a longtime resident of Artesia.

He served in the United States Army during World War II and Korea.

He was a miner for AMAX Potash and a member of the D.A.V.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John, William, Henry and wife Juanita, Joe and wife Wanda, and Charles, sisters Pearl, Jessie, Sally and Bonnie.

Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews including Ricky Swafford, Kathy Grantham, Teresa Stegall, Brenda Lee, Nancy Holder and Peggy Swafford.
