Bill Poe

Services are scheduled at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 2, at West Main Baptist Church for Bill F. Poe, 2804 West Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mr. Poe, 73, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at his home. Jason Kraft will officiate at the services with burial at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron Beasley, Bruce Lanier, Juan Fuentes, Joe Delarosa, James Dudley, and Lynn Tarbet. Honorary pallbearers will be John Yates Jr., Darrell Atkins, Tom Kelly, Ray Taylor and Bruce Sutton. Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 am. Wednesday. Mr. Poe was born June 21, 1935 in Bastrop, Texas; the son of Prince Olen Poe and Dorothy Pearson Poe. He came to Artesia in 1951 from California. On January 22, 1956 he was married to Marsha Golden in Artesia. He served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Well Analyst for Yates Petroleum. He was a member of West Main Baptist Church, coached Little League Baseball and was a former member of the Downtown Lion's Club. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Marsha Poe of the family home; sons William J. Poe of Lubbock, Texas and Jarret F. Poe and wife Kara of Artesia; daughter Dova Poe Cronian and husband Rob of Artesia; sister Dolores Ball of Junction, Texas; 6 grandchildren Christopher Lane Cronian, William Eric Poe, Crystle Cronian, Kayla Poe, Alexis Poe and Cameron Poe.
