Betty Mauldin

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, at Hermosa Church of Christ for Betty Lois Mauldin of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Mauldin, 85, died Thursday, August 11, 2016 at her home in Artesia.

Chris Mauldin will officiate at the services with burial to follow at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Claude Mauldin, Jack Gibson, Jack Brannan, Brian Baker, Lonnie Pierce, and Michael Mauldin. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Shoults, Mike Coon, Sheryl Baker, Jim Hadley, Larry Grissom, Royce Grissom, Donnie Grissom, Chip Grissom, Ronnie Null, Jim King, and Jeremy Fiedler.

Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Sunday from 2 - 6:00 p.m.

Betty was born December 29, 1930 in El Paso, Texas to William G. Cook and Bessie (Drury) Cook.

She graduated from Hagerman High School and had attended some college at the University of New Mexico.

On June 4, 1961 she married Claude Mauldin in Artesia. They were long time Artesia residents.

Betty was a homemaker, an antiques dealer, and a "professional" garage seller. She attended Hermosa Church of Christ and was a member of the Eastern Star. She was also instrumental in starting the Artesia Youth Soccer League.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two baby brothers; and grandsons Jason Kennedy and Ryan Baker.

Survivors include her husband Claude of the family home; daughters Charlotte Shoults and husband Greg of Andrews, Texas, Nancy Kennedy Coon and husband Mike of Greenwood, S.C., Connie Baker and husband Sheryl of Roswell, N.M., Clarissa Jo Hadley and husband Jim of Seattle, WA, Tanya Mauldin of Albuquerque, N.M., and Carolyn Mauldin of Elko, Nevada; sons Chris Mauldin and wife Sharon of Artesia, Johnnie Ray Mauldin and wife Stacey of Las Cruces, N.M., Milton Mauldin and wife Pam of Las Cruces, and Jimmy Mauldin and wife Margaret of Santa Clarita, CA; 33 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
