Services are scheduled at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 28 at Faith Baptist Church for Betty Lou Laman, 203 York Ave., Artesia, New Mexico. Mrs. Laman, 62, died Saturday, March 23, 2002 in Lubbock, Texas. Rev. Michael Elliott will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be David Conklin, Greg Conklin, Darrell Thompson, Willie Rodriguez, George Sprouse and Scott DeHoyos. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Teel, Ed LaRue, Guy Conklin and Bill Johnson. Mrs. Laman was born June 25, 1939 in Van Zandt, Texas; the daughter of Julius Cantrell and Mary Lou Stricklen Cantrell. She came to Artesia in 1948 from Tyler, Texas. On December 4, 1954 she was married to Dub J. Laman in Portales, N.M. She was a waitress and member of Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Laman was preceded in death by her parents; by a daughter Patty Sue Laman; and by two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include her husband Dub J. Laman of the family home; daughters Linda DeHoyos and husband David of Artesia and Gayla Nizzi of Omaha, Nebraska; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
