Services are scheduled at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 2, at Terpening Son Chapel for Bessie Lee Lewis, 307 York, Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Lewis, 85, died Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at Heartland Nursing Center in Artesia.

Rev. Rick Sullivan will officiate at the services with burial at Twin Oaks Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Tony Karr, George Chumbley, Joe Paz, John Ironmonger, Mike Goss, and Roy Shoemaker.

Visitation will be at Terpening Son Mortuary beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Mrs. Lewis was born July 3, 1924 in Bokoshe, Oklahoma the daughter of David Edward Bourne and Myrtle Della Davis Bourne.

On Aug. 17, 1940 she was married to William James Lewis in Bokoshe. She came to Artesia in 1953 from Oklahoma. He preceded her in death August 3, 1989.

She was a housewife and member of First Baptist Church, Women of the Moose, and the Eddy County Line Dancers.

She was preceded in death by parents, and by 6 brothers 2 sisters.

Survivors include son Larry Lewis of Artesia daughters Doris Reiser of Artesia, Dean Baskett of Gardendale, Texas, and Ramona Karr of Artesia sisters Naomia McKinney of Bokoshe, Alfloue Bryant of Terleton, Oklahoma, Mabel McKinney of Bokoshe, and Joyce Johnson of Eugene, Oregon sistersinlaw Betty Hatch of Roswell, N.M. and Bessie Major of Artesia 5 grandchildren and 9 greatGrandchildren.
